Army Reg- 00-EA-07 Year of Manufacture 1962 Engine- Rolls Royce 4200cc straight 6 Output- 130 BHP Fuel Consumption - 9-10 MPG Weight- 3800 kg Transmission- pre-selector 5f - 5R (that's right as fast backwards as forwards) Drive- 4x4 In service from 1962-1991 We brought Eric (the previous owner named him) from Marcus Glenn in August 2004. The first thing everybody notice`s about the Ferret is that the steering wheel is upside down which looks totally un-natural, but once you are in the driving seat it makes perfect sense. Since purchase he has been a model of reliability only requiring regular servicing. The nicest thing out British MV`s is good parts availability. This Ferret differs from most as he has a cargo rack above the engine compartment( we think this is a Gulf War 1 addition), a large front bumper ( this could be an `Ulster bumper`) and an access ladder. These all look too well made to be home made but we haven`t been able to find any more information about them. If anyone who served on Ferret`s or has owned `Eric` and can shed any light on this we would be glad to hear from you.
